Pro-rated final bill for Fios internet services

I disconnected Fios on May 12 and was told by an agent on the phone that I was going to receive a pro-rated refund.
When the final bill arrived, not only did I not receive a refund, but Verizon charged me an early cancellation fee.
This is utter nonsense - I am being charged for service I didnt use until the end of my contract AND verizon is charging an early termination fee.
Verizon agents are either 1) completely incompetent or 2) tell flat out lies on the phone.
Terrible company with horrible customer (dis)service.
