Sewer Line Damage caused by Verizon Fios line

In February 2023, our sewer line backed up and we hired a licensed plumbing contractor.  The plumber ran a camera down the line and verified our sewer line was compromised and pinpointed the location.  He excavated part of the line and found that Verizon had drilled right through our sewer line when they installed the Fios line.  We have pictures and an invoice that reads the sewer line was pierced by Verizon.  The plumber removed the damaged part of the line and replaced it new pipe and it cost us just under $2000 to fix it.

I've not been able to successfully resolve this.  Someone from Verizon came out and advised us to contact one of Verizon's subcontractors.  He gave us a piece of paper with a number on it.  That number is disconnected.  There was an email address on the piece of paper.  I have sent our information to that email address with no response. I feel like I'm getting the run-around.  Why wouldn't Verizon be responsible for this, since the subcontractor was working at the behest of Verizon?  It doesn't make much sense at this point.

Any assistance would be appreciated.
