I ordered Verizon Fios service today and expressly selected the check box to deny a credit check in exchange for providing a deposit. I also did not provide my SSN. I proceeded through the order and a few hours later received a notification from my credit monitoring service that a hard inquiry had been made on my account by Verizon. I subsequently called Verizon twice tonight asking to have the fraudulent inquiry removed from my credit report. Both times once I was transferred to the department that handled fraudulent credit inquiries I was hung up on. Once, after I had provided my information which the agent said they would look up and again this time as soon as I was transferred to their department.
