Verizon keeps contacting me about equipment that I returned/never had

I sold my home in May 2017 and returned my Fios equipment to the only Verizon store in the area in June 2017. Not soon thereafter, I began to recieve notices that Verizon never received my equipment and that I owed them a "High Definition DVR." Either they never sent me a separate DVR in the first place, or never accepted my return, or didn't recognize that my cable box was ALSO my DVR. I don't know what to do, the number they put on the letters they send me are an automated system that doesn't have an option for "I never had this/this is a mistake!" Who should I contact? What should I do?

Hopefully you kept the receipt when you returned equipment.
