Emails returned to sender

I am not able to receive any new emails on my verizon account.

I sent a test email from my gmail account and it was returned with an error message:

Reason: LMTP transmission failure has occured

Diagnostic code: lmtp;550 5.2.2 delivery failed: over quota

I had a lot of emails in my inbox but have deleted them all and I still can't receive new emails.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you
