I hate this new email...How do I go back?

I upgraded my email because verizon made me do it, there was no button to keep existing account format, just a bunch of buttons to click to upgrade to the new email format and I had to do it to view my email. So I go from the old format of the message being displayed in the entire screen to the new improved view of the message displayed in a box about the size of 1/8 of the screen, and I have to squint and scroll down to read the entire message because the whole thing wouldn't fit in the window. And all my messages are like that, it now takes me 4 or 5 times as long to read my email. I want to go back to the way it used to be a few days ago........HOW DO I???

In my new email page I can go back to the classic or old email page (by clicking on classic email at the top of the email page) and neither one seem smaller in size than the other. Is this something new that I haven't gotten yet. I'm not a brand new customer of Verizon Fios or Verizon email.

I have a big problem! I see a lot of messages here saying that to go back to the old email, in the upper right corner click "go to classic view". MY SCREEN DOESN'T HAVE THIS! I've seen it replied in other messages that if you click that, it will go back to the old style of email, which is what I want to do. Problem is, in the upper right hand corner it says "HELP - FEEDBACK - SEARCH MESSAGE CENTER". There is no "go to classic email". And this is the case in both Internet Explorer 8.0 and Mozilla Firefox 3.5, and I'm running Windows XP. I'm perplexed, this isn't a program, just a page in the browser. Why wouldn't this show up in the page, and how can I get it to?

This sucks, I used the contact verizon button, and used the "talk to a live representative" button. This is part of the conversation I had with them:
Amtoz(18:37:33): I would like to inform you that Verizon has upgraded its e-mail to new Verizon 2.0 Webmail and has disabled all the old format, I apologize that we won't be able to switch your e-mail to the old format. There used to be a button to switch back to old format, however this button has now been removed from there. {edited for privacy}18:39:18): Why did they do that??? And why when I go into the forums, they tell me to click that, if it doesn't exist anymore? {edited for privacy}(18:41:23): Can I get that button back? (I really like the old email, and I really, really hate this new one. Amtoz(18:41:48): The forums have information about the old formats, now they do not have the back or switch buttons. J{edited for privacy}(18:43:18): What if I really hate this new email format? How can I switch back to the old style? Amtoz(18:44:23): I really apologize, however there is no way to switch your e-mail to the old format. You can give it a try by using the link : http://netservices.verizon.net/ to access your e-mails. (by the way, this didn't work).
That's bad news for me. Is anyone who still has the old email, is it still in that format?

Some of my accounts are still in the old format. Big problem is the main one has been changed against my will, to the bug filled new email.
So the facts are:
1) They lie.
2) We have no choice in our service, they will probably change these that are still original and lock us out when they feel like screwing over more of us at their whim.
3) Verizon is becoming "Big Brother" we get what's "best for us", regardless of what we want or think.
So: DON'T GIVE UP, CALL SUPPORT EVERY DAY AND TELL THEM WHAT YOU THINK!!!

Verizon does not confer with any of its paying internet users. What might be good for the management is not necessarily good for the email participant. Do I have to move to another WEB to find easier email communication?

Verizon seems to have removed the "Go To Classic View" tab if you have been using the new format for any length of time. However, you CAN simulate the function of that missing button and revert to the Classic View (despite what Verizon Customer Support reps might tell you) simply by following these very simple instructions:
Login to your account and go to your inbox view. In the address bar at the top of your screen, type the following EXACTLY as I have typed it here:
http://webmail.verizon.com/signin/VMCOptOut?src=vmc
Click ENTER to the right of the address bar (or press the ENTER key on your keyboard).
(this command basically tells the system that you are Opting Out of the new view)
That's it! Your account should now be reverted back to the Classic View.
Enjoy!

rockcat,
THANK YOU! Your URL was posted over on another thread, and it allowed me to finally switch back into plain text mode and unsubscribe from a listserv that I haven't needed for months.
Kudos awarded.

Rockcat: I can't believe it. This worked. What do I do next in order to keep this active. Will this version of email appear when I signon tomorrow? I don't trust anything anymore to work the next time, so I'm going to be really nervous about sigiing off. I can't believe that you did this. What a relief. Thank you.
Aileen.

neen, it doesn't look like rockcat has been back, so I'll answer your question: just make a bookmark with that URL, and use that to access your Verizon web mail. If you ever accidentally switch to the new web mail, and want to switch back, use that bookmark.
At least it works for now...

Welcome to the world of "worse is better".
My workaround won't help people who have opted for the "upgrade". But it did help me to avoid opting for the upgrade. I have the mail as one of the little boxes on my home page. If I park the cursor on this little box without clicking, and if I have any mail, gives me the option of opening one of my incoming e-mails. If I click on that e-mail it cranks up the old email interface. I'm going to continue to use the old one until I hear that most of the bugs are out of the new one.
If I just enter e-mail the normal way, I get to a screen that tells me how great the new e-mail is, offers me a button that says "UPGRADE NOW", but does NOT offer me a button that says "No thanks, ask me later". Apparently giving the user a choice has become "so twentieth century".

This is a revision to my earlier comment. There is a"no thanks" option it the "You'll love the new e-mail" screen It's buried in the fine print of the description of the new e-mail. It's in the form of underlined text, not in the form of an easily seen button.
The design of the "You'll love the new email" screen is biased towards getting the user to upgrade. I think this bias is deliberate, and I think it expresses disresepct for users like me.

Rockcat-Thanks so much for posting this fix.
Second time, I've had this issue and haven't even been a verizon customer for a full year. Can't believe Verizon doesn't offer the available opt out. They've been made aware a number of forums, businesses, non profits, etc. can only accept plain text and have "said" the option is going to made avaialble again.
I was ready to cancel my service over this, until I stumble across your post. LOL
Thanks again! YOU ROCK!!!

Its still missing some key features of the old one. Notably sending text only messages.
Personally I only check it to see if any of my real mail was caught by the spam filter. I use an eMail client for eMail instead of the Web mail. Much more control and more flexible then counting on the web, and I can keep years worth of correspondence to my friends.

NOT growing on me. Just keeps increasing my frustration, when I can't post to forums only able to accept plain text. The fix isn't permanent for me, at least . I also don't see the "you'll love this email" mentioned to opt out.
Not sure why verizon is asking customers to opt in, when it seems the new format is really not an option. I'm going to hunt around. If all esle fails, Rockcat's fix seems to still work, I just have to do it every few days..
