Persistent Login Issues

Recently, I started experiencing this really disconcerting problem with accessing my account. Anytime I go to log into my account, I get through the login/password page, then to the security challenge page, but when I supply the answer to the security challenge question I get a message saying my account is locked! I have to go through the tedious process of getting a temporary password, logging into my account and creating new password and a security question answer. The very next time I try to access my account using those credentials, I'm back to the same problem. Same interminable steps. Ad infinitum!
I'm a long-time Verizon/Fios customer but I never had this problem before, but then I almost never accessed my account online either. It's only in the past month or so that I'm logging into my account on a daily basis, and that's because I've started listening to (and watching) live news broadcast from the networks over the Internet. I like to have the news on in the background while I'm working on my desktop computer. And, of course, the networks require that I log in using my service provider. Is anyone experiencing similar problems, and any suggestions on what do to? (Please don't tell me to call Tech Support, lol.)
