I was able to update Email Server settings in one of my computer. When I tried my mobile devices (ipod and ipads) I was able to set the new outgoing setting, port, and SSL. Setting the incoming part I was able to change Port # and SSL but I couldn't set "pop.verizon.net " . I got an error message:"The POP server pop.verizon.net doesn't support Authenticated POP (APOP) authentication. Please check your account settings and try again. And of course, I couldn't get any e-mail. Thank you in advance!!

Thanks to dhutton I found out that APOP is not supported, do you have an option for clear text? If not please let us know what email client you are using. Welcome to the forum

Thank you for your promptly response. I use apple's mail e-mail program. I was able to set all the new settings in an Imac G5 (old one). However, I couldn't in my "macbook air", nor my ipod and ipads. Different problem in each one. Ipod and ipads no problems with the outgoing new settings. The problem was with the incoming. In my Macbook air it was the other way around. It is driving me crazy. Thanks again. I really appreciate your time.

I had the same problem setting up my iPhone 4. I solved the problem by trial and error. Set the outgoing as smtp.verizon.net, SSL enabled yes, and port 465. Then with the POP3 server, change the incoming to pop.verizon.net, then go to advanced (scroll down). Open authentication and check password. Put SSL enabled yes and port 995. I had to do this repeatedly, but lo and behold, it finally worked! Best of luck!

Thank you for the iphone solution. The check mark has to be clicked on next to "password" in the advanced. That is what I was missing.
