Replies to my emails are going to the wrong account.

When I send email from my verizon.net account on my iphone, and the receiver of the email hits "reply" without changing the reply-to field, the replies end up in my gmail inbox. Even after I have deleted my gmail account from my phone.
This does not happen when i send email from my verizon account on my iMac, or my iPad. When I use my verizon account for outgoing email on those devices, responses go back to my verizon.net email address.
The settings on my verizon.net account on my iPhone do not indicate a way to change the "reply to" information in each sent email.
How does one fix this annoying problem?
