According to this help page:

Starting February 2017, Verizon will no longer provide verizon.net email service. Instead they will focus on providing their internet, TV and phone customers the best experience possible. Verizon has teamed up with AOL to provide verizon.net email customers with AOL Mail, an enhanced email experience.

Further, it states that:

When it is time for you to move your verizon.net mail to AOL Mail, you will be notified by an email from Verizon and messaging on webmail.verizon.com.

Prior to last week, the page listed the anticipated rollout date as "February 15. 2017", but now it's been changed to "February 2017".

Is there an way that I can manually initiate the migration to AOL Mail? I'd like to utilize AOL Mail's IMAP support for this account, and I'm kinda getting tired of waiting.

I've just received an email that looks like it's from Verizon, saying that it's going to end all verizon.net email by early April, and we have a couple of options that we have to click through to.  Anyone else seen this?  I assume it's scam?

Just recieved an e-mail stating Verizon is closing there e-mail service, is this true, if so it's just another way to screw people up..I've never had access to AOL and really don't know how to get to it..

--Verizon could have least given us Customers the consideration to inform us  that THEY NOW OWN AOL, before springing the news that they we no longer could use their email service.  At least we would have known that using this "NEW" Email Provider was STILL Verizon.   This would have saved us Customers a lot of Angst scrambling to look for an alternatative, when unfamiliar with switching to a new email service .                                                                                                                  Not everyone keeps up with Corporate Buyouts!

Veriizon is ripping off all customers by eliminating their email service. This was included in the expensive monthly charges... A defacto rate increase. Plus, customers will face the prospect of having to shift to AOL soon enough, causing an enormous waste of time. If Verizon is going to degrade its service, the least it can do is reduce what they are charging their customers.

I agree.  Was not happy when the last time I renewed service that my rates went up.  And now that service is being degraded.  I've made the switch and am most unhappy with the expierience so far.   Spam (aka ads) everywhere.  "Opting out" only means that the spam won't be tailored to your activity.  And that is only tracked as a cookie.  You have to "opt out" on every browser/device you use.  And again everytime you clear cookies.  So they still plan on splashing ads everywhere.  And what a joke their phrase "AOL mail on your terms!" is.  MY terms are NO SPAM/ADS!!!

Pathetic, no longer supporting your own email domain?  What kind of two-bit ISP have you turned into? Great way to treat your customers, don't look for me to return when my contract is up for renewal.  And instead of wasting my time, why don't you migrate my account to AOL?  Sad, well and truly sad.

Migrated over the weekend, including reconfiguring email settings on my personal domain so that it would work with AOL. What a wonderful way to waste an hour making sure everything was working correctly.    

When you move, make sure you check out your spam folder. AOL decided that about 50% of my legitimate emails should default to SPAM.

I assume you mean that you were just getting setup for when change to AOL officially takes place?

Are you still rec. e-mails with Verizon/webmail/Yahoo Mail?

1. On the Verizon to AOL emailchange, you say "select Keep verizon.net email address to migrate to AOL Mail. By choosing this option you will:

• Keep your verizon.net email address
• Retain email, contacts and calendar(s) automatically"

However, you don't say anything about the Verizon security image feature where you note "Your Security Image lets you know you are on a Verizon web site."

What happens with this seemingly important security feature when we go to AOL?

1. What about the Verizon smartphone app that lets us get to verizon.net email? Will that part of the app go away?
2. How do the past email storage capacities for what we had on Verizon compare to what we will have onAOL?
3. Will the cost of our FiOS bill go down a bit given there are savings to Verizon in doing this – you note this will reduce your server storage needs and electrical consumption and clearly closing down your email business will save you money.

A few weeks back I did get a msg. in the "dashboard" about keeping Verizon.net

e-mail and switching to AOL but the links provided did not allow setup to AOL.

No AOL settings, instructions were given?

The message disappeared and I'm still rec. e-mail through Yahoo Mail.

I've been hearing that Verizon will be discontinuing email service.  That is, verizon.net email accounts will be cancelled.

Is this true?  If so what are the options?

I have had Verizon email for many years. I just got a notice that Verizon is stopping this service.  Even though they are allowing me to migrate my account to AOL I am not happy about this. I have Verizon cell phones, landlines, and DSL service. I also pay my Directv bill on my phone bill. Now that AT&T owns Directv I can see that going away as well. Verizon mobile service used to be the only game in town when it came to coverage and service. The other major services are gaining on that fast. I wasn't even looking to change but these changes have me rethinking that.
