That's happening a lot now. All of my messages were deleted also, along with all of the Filters I had set. Verizon does not backup message on their servers so when your messages are deleted, there is no way to get them back. That is what I was told by Verizon customer service. I was told that you have to pay extra for Verizon to back up your messages.
Rather crappy, ain't it?

It's atypical for emails to randomly be deleted from any webmail service. What typically happens is that the email is stolen by a different PC, or email program where you also get mail at. In email programs there is a selection for "keep copy on server" If it's checked, then you have your email in both places, and if it's not checked then your email gets sucked into one program, on one PC. So I HOPE that is what happened to you. Make sure to check any and ALL machines (pc's, laptops, smartphones, tablets etc...) that you may have accessed email with. Click start and then programs, and look for mail programs, and see if your email accidentally got stolen and placed there.
This is Verizon's message about deleted emails, in case it is helpful.

I want to retrieve deleted emails from my Verizon Online account
Which Message Center or Webmail folder did you delete your email messages from?
- From my Inbox or Folders: When you delete email messages from your Inbox or folders, the messages are moved to your Trash folder. Emails that are less than 24 hours old will remain in the Trash folder for an additional 24 hours before being permanently deleted. Emails more than 24 hours old are immediately deleted and cannot be recovered. If the message still appears in the Trash folder, move it back to your Inbox or an email folder.
- From the Trash folder: When you delete emails from your Trash folder, they are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
- From the SpamDetector folder: When you delete email messages from your SpamDetector folder, they are permanently deleted from the SpamDetector folder and cannot be recovered. If your email message was moved into the SpamDetector folder without your knowledge, the email address may be tagged as spam or listed on your Blocked Senders List.
