My wife and I got the same exact phone, Pixel 2 XL 128GB. A few days ago she received the Oreo 8.1 Dec update, and I have yet to receive it. I've tried checking for updates to no avail. When will I get the update?

The updates are staggered and can take several weeks to reach all of the devices. I personally don't expect to see it on my Pixel until at least the 15th based on my personal experience.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

If you want the update now go to :
1. Settings
2. Apps & Notifications
3. Click see all apps
4. Click the 3 dots in the upper right corner and press show system apps.
5. Scroll down and click on "Google Service Framework"
6. Click on storage.
7. Clear data.
8. Click back and force stop "Google Service Framework".
9. Restart Phone
10. Check for update once or twice and 8.1 should be there. It worked for me. Pixel XL

eulloa10,
I know it's important to have the latest software on your phone to get the best performance. I'll be happy to help. Software updates are sent based off the serial number of your device and they are disturbed in batches. If other users with the same phone as you have received their update, it's because of this reason. Your phone will alert you when the update is available. Here's more information about the latest software versions available for our devices http://spr.ly/6589DGe8J Does this help?

I suggest you factory reset your phone. It takes a few minutes for the
factory reset, what takes longer are the apps that are backed up to your
account. So allow for about an hour. Factory reset will push the 8.1
update.

Lochness108, I know it is important to have your phone secured, and we want you to be able to download your software. What happens when you follow this https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-215091/ path? Are you connected to WiFi?

We certainly want you to be able to update your phone, jfdeuce1911. To be able to update your phone from us, your phone has to be currently connected to our network. Have you tried initiating the update while connected to our LTE with Wi-Fi OFF? Once it starts you can turn Wi-Fi back on.

I have the exact same version and build as jfdeuce.
I still do not have the December security patch or 8.1 upgrade. Verizon you should be able to provide a better answer on when we will see the update. Not the answer from the checklist you have been trained to use.
My serial number starts with 710KPBF.
Anyone else have a serial before or after this one with the update?

Still no updates. I turned off WiFi and it's LTE only and not seeing updates. I reset the phone twice to mfg and still no updates. Should I return the phone since it might be defective?

Lochness 108, thank you for your patience and for being a valued customer. We understand your concern regarding getting the latest software update. Your phone is not defective and software updates can not be forced. Your phone will receive a notification when an update is available. The updates are not sent to all the phones at once and when your IMEI comes up in the system you will be able to update the phone. We have to ask for your patience until the update is available. Follow this link for more information on software updates: http://spr.ly/6587DyrRW

I understand the difficulties that can arise from pushing out new updates, especially when they are a beta. I sympathize with the slew of complaints I'm sure you're receiving as well. I'm going to put this out there though. I know the grievous Bluetooth errors on the Pixel 2 aren't your fault. I know that the persistent USB-c to 3.5mm errors are not your mistake. I understand that the constant errors regarding my applications like Pandora and Words with Friends are all on Google's head. I know the widget errors, connectivity flubs, and general operational mishaps are not on your head...
... That being said, Google has pushed their 8.1 update out fast to attempt to correct these issues. Your slow release of this update is, for lack of stronger words, infuriating. My $750 phone is pretty much a brick in the car with it's Bluetooth and 3.5 mm USB-c errors, and it's certainly frustrating. The issues are real and while I won't claim to understand the nuances of withholding this update I don't think the errors that may arise from pushing this update out now could in any way eclipse the current state of this phone. While I'm sure most people are blaming Google for the slow update release, as people are starting to research more the knowledge that this is on your end is growing.

Have a wonderful holiday season and a happy New Year (I'm not going to sit back and be patient though two months into having a partially functional device).

I thought with a Google Pixel device, you didn't have to wait on the carrier.

Do we have an estimate by when the final updates will roll out? My wife and I purchased a Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL a few weeks ago. Her Pixel 2 received an update to 8.1 within days. Much to my chagrin, weeks later, my Pixel 2 XL still hasn't received an upgrade to 8.1. I really do hate to wait but sometimes that is just the luck of the draw. Everything I read states that upgrades take a few weeks to push. Given that a few weeks have passed since the upgrades were released, we start to wonder if there is infact something wrong on the technical side.

KettlebellMonk, I know that I would be anxious for this update. You certainly want to have the latest software as well as the complete fixes in place. Truly, we do not have access to the list of device ID's or the order in which these updates are released. They are staggered to ensure that the transition to the software goes smoothly and we hope that you will see your update very soon.
