Factory reset

How often should you do a factory reset on a cell phone?

I'm not having any issues that I can tell.  I just want to get rid of files that have built up over the years and may be causing the phone to work at less than peak performance.

I rarely will complete a factory reset my phones. However I will occasionally clear out the temporary files or cache files for the installed applications.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I think the answer is probably a matter of opinion. There is really no definitive answer, everyone has a different opinion about a factory reset. My advice would be: if there are no major issues with your phone, there is no need for a factory reset.  But then again a factory reset doesn't hurt anything (as long as you have a good file & data backup plan in place) and can be done as often as you want & any time you want.

That's a great question! Thanks for reaching out! A factory reset really shouldn't be necessary at all unless there is a technical issue. To maintain your device, it would be a good idea to periodically, let's say every 6 months, to perform a 'network settings reset' or a 'reset all settings.' The terminology will vary based on the make, though the concept and feature is present on all devices. Please, let us know if you have any further questions! We're here for you!
