I had a Pixel 6 and wanted to upgrade to the Pixel 8. I purchased through the Google store and elected to use the option of trading my phone in with Verizon as they were offering $400 credit for a Pixel 6 on the Unlimited Plus plan. During the purchase process on the Google store I had to log into my Verizon account to verify eligibility. All went well, I thought.
The only information on trading in my old device was in the order confirmation email from Google with a link to verizon.com/trade-in. Following that my old device is listed but greyed out stating it's not eligible for trade in. Verizon's only advice is to do a standalone trade in and accept $70. I've been charged an upgrade fee yet Verizon says they can't do anything for me since I didn't buy the phone from them.
Why offer a promotion if you're not going to honor it? Or am I completely misunderstanding it? 20+ years with Verizon and this may be the final straw.
