I bought a Pixel 7 to upgrade my partners phone from a flip-phone. I pulled the SIM card from the flip phone and absolutely everything seems to be working perfectly, except MMS messages can not be sent or received. I looked into it a few times, everything I see says MMS is enabled on the phone, and Verizon website sees that the phone is a Pixel 7. But if I send a group message from my phone to them and others, everyone gets the message except them. If I text them plain text to just them, it works fine. If I try to text them a GIF, my phone says failed to deliver. But I can send it to everyone else with no problem.
I even switched their messenger app to Verizon messages, and no change. It seems like the system itself is blocking the MMS messages for them. Other people with apple phones have the same results when texting them. Group messages never show up for my partner. And they can't send group messages.

You can't put a SIM from an old flip phone into a modern 5G phone. You will need to get a new SIM at a Verizon store so you get full functionality out of that new phone. SIM cards are free at a genuine Verizon store.
