SMS Delivery reports

Since switching from another carrier I have noticed I do not see delivery reports coming back to me. I have the new pixel2 xl a and am using the stock Google messages app with the option to receive delivery notifications on. The SMS seem to work just fine however I am used to seeing "delivered" vs the now "sent" tag. Oddly enough it does work with MMS. I know the other carriers support this feature as I have never had this issue on the other carrier.

As far as I know, the delivery reports have only worked for numbers on the Verizon Wireless network.

It's always nice to know when someone has gotten a text, so let's check that out. On the Pixel 2, you would be able to get an SMS delivery report to see when it is delivered. MMS does not have this option, but as long as you are not getting any "failed" errors your part of the texting is complete. Hello, yes I have done this and when I send to non Verizon users I get no delivery notice. If you need screenshots I can provide them. I am a technical person and like to see things work. If they don't it tends to eat away at me. I want to see that the message was delivered successfully to the destination user. I have had this function under my previous carrier with no issue. Even when sending to Verizon users. Can you advise me if this is a feature that cannot be provided and if so why not?

MILLOWSTER, we always want you to know the details of your messages being sent out. The reason that this doesn’t work with non-Verizon SMS messages but works with MMS is due to network limitations between carriers. An SMS uses a different network (uses voice network) than an MMS (uses data network). The voice network has some limitations that the data network does not and vice versa. Not receiving a delivery report for SMS when messaging someone using another carrier is due to these network limitations. Does this help to clarify everything?
