I am unable to receive text messages on my Google Pixel 7. I use Verizon Messenger. I have restarted my phone, toggled airplane mode, verified contacts are not blocked. Strangely... I can receive group texts but not individual texts. Thoughts?

To fix issues with receiving individual texts on your Pixel 7:
- Verify Message Center Number: Check if it's correct in Messages > Settings > Advanced.
- Clear App Cache/Data: Go to Settings > Apps > Messages > Storage > Clear Cache and Clear Data.
- Update Carrier Settings: Check for updates in Settings > System > Advanced > System update.
- Reset Network Settings: Go to Settings > System > Reset options > Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth.
If the problem continues, contact Verizon support.

Hello, kcsunsh1ne. The Verizon Messages Plus application is going away but we can still assist in ensuring your text messages work while using the text messaging application that came with the phone. When you attempt to use the Messages application on the device (shows up as Messages in a white circle with a blue message icon) , do you receive an error message when you use it?

I don't know why Verizon's Messages+ is only sort of working that way on your Pixel, but Messages+ is in the process of being retired, so should be considered a dead app at this point. Does Google Messages work OK?

If I switch to Google messenger it won't send my messages unless the person I am texting is also using Google Messenger. And I am still not receiving texts. Maybe an additional setting in the phone or app needs to be updated?

If your software hasn't been updated in a while, definitely try that. There was an issue with Pixel 7 phones which Google issued a patch for a few months ago. I did find these links elsewhere which may help:

One of the community members who checks in regularly is a Pixel user and seems pretty conversant with them, so hopefully he'll see this thread and provide some feedback.

That issue mentioned in the links was back in March and April and was fixed on April 18th so it's not that. I thought Verizon Messenger was retired in June? I'm surprised it even opens. If you can send to other Messages users that means RCS is working. Since you cannot send & receive from others that would indicate SMS/MMS is not working. Which would point to a Verizon issue. You need to contact Verizon support (or go to a real Verizon corporate store, not an authorized reseller) and discuss with them. It sounds like your phone is not provisioned properly on the Verizon network. Where did the SIM card come from, an older phone? That will cause issues like described. This sounds like something Verizon needs to fix at your account level, not an issue with your phone itself.

We're sorry to read that you're having issues with texting on your device. If you go to the Settings on the Google Messages app, is RCS chats on? What about Automatically resend as text? ~Peter
