Verizon Not Honoring What Employee Told Me

A few months ago Verizon was offering an $800 trade-in credit on broke or old phones. I went to the store and got a Pixel 6 Pro which was $900. I went to give the employee my old phone and he said "No, we don't need it. You'll get the $800 anyway." That struck me as weird but went with it. As we were finishing up my order I again offered my old phone and he said the same thing.

They didn't have the phone in stock so a few days later I went to pick it up and again offered my old phone, same answer. My first bill included the phone payment which was $30 instead of the $3 or so the employee told me it would be. I called the store and the lady said not to worry about it, it sometimes takes a month or two to apply and they would credit me whatever I overpaid.

Three months later they were still charging the full payment each bill so I called again. They told me they would look into it and get back to me next week. I received a call today and a lady said they couldn't honor the deal since I didn't trade in my old phone. I told her I was told 3 times they didn't want it and that I was assured I'd get the promotion anyway. She offered me $400 instead of the $800. She also told me if I'd have brought this up sooner I could've traded the phone back in. I told her I called after the first month as was told not to worry, it would be fine.

I'm furious, I never would've bought the phone for this price and the only reason I did was because of the promotion. I don't know what to do, I'm afraid if I take the $400 that'll be the end of it and they will consider it resolved. Is there anything else I can do?
