Why can't I edit pictures in Message+

I recently switched from a LG G4 and Samsung Galaxy S5 to two Pixel XLs.

On my old phones, I was able to edit, crop, etc pictures within a picture i was going to send and now I cannot.

Could you please advise why this is?
