I am trying to determine if the Verizon Treo Pro requires the SMS Date Stamp Update. There is no information on the Verizon site and the Palm site only references the Alltel device. The Alltel device requires the patch, and I understand that the Verizon devices were originally Alltel stock, so I'm thinking that it does. I would just go ahead and install it on the Verizon device, but the patch is specifically for the Alltel firmware versionT850EWW-1.03-ALT, and the Verizon device has Firmware version T850EWW-1.00-VZW.
Can anyone tell me if the Date Stamp issue was corrected when the firmware was ported to the Verizon device and if not, if I can use the Alltel patch?
Do you have a Palm Treo Pro on the Verizon network.
If yes, how did you get it?
How much did they charge you?
I have been trying to purchase one but they are saying its only available for business to business and the cost is $399 to purchase?
Please let me know if you have any insight.
We are handling the deployment and support of ~1000 Treo Pro units for one of our customers; only 10 units are Verizon. I believe they did pay $399 each for them, and they are definitly a Verizon business customer. What I can tell you is that there is virtually no support from Verizon or Palm for this configuration. If I didn't know better, I would say that it doesn't exist.
I recently acquired a Verizon Treo Pro through a LOT of wrangling (see this thread).
According to the phone info I am running Software Version T850EWW-1.00-VZW and Firmware Version 1.12.40V. I don't know what the SMS Date Stamp Update is, but the phone is right now working like a charm on the Verizon network (on a personal plan) right now. How would I tell if the issue to which you're referring was corrected?
Also yes, you are correct -- it is as though the phone literally does not exist within Verizon. Utterly baffling.
The Sprint and Alltel versions of the phone have an issue with the time and date stamp for SMS messages. Apparently, the issue will cause SMS messages from 2010 to be displayed as 2016. I have not seen the issue on either the Sprint or Verizon phones that we support, but I have also not spent a lot of time trying to. I only see the Day/Month displyed for SMS messages. I am not certain what the conditions need to be to display the year; there may be a setting or you may have to wait until the message is a year old? There is a patch available at the Palm site for the Sprint and Alltel versions, so I am assuming that the Verizon needs it as well. I'm also going to go out on a limb and guess that I'll never see a patch, regardless of whether or not the phone suffers from the issue.
