Hi, I have a Palm Centro I want to sell. When I got my new Android they said my Centro doesn't need a data plan. I sold it today to a guy who wanted a phone which needs no plan but when he tried to activate it they told him he needs a plan. Is it true?
Well, the Centro doesn't need a plan, but if the guy didn't know that, the Verizon store would have pushed him into getting one. Any Palm made before November of 2007 do not need data plans, though you can get them, they aren't required. I am in a similar situation myself since the basic phones that verizon offers is lacking in terms of selection, so me being a big Palm fan, I was going to get a Palm Centro and activate it on one of our lines. I spoke with a Verizon rep this morning, and he said that with the Palms you can activate as a basic phone, and have the data plan blocked for the line. But he said that the reps might try to push the plan, but you have to know your stuff or call in to get it done.
