Palm Centro - synch issues...again?

Have had my Palm Centro since Jan.  Went through major issues upon setup/activation - followed instructions to a T, but had to work with both Verizon & Palm tech support (we're talking several hours)  Lost some data, but finally got it to sync consistently(Windows XP, vs 5.1)

 

Here it is 10 months later...same problem.  Hotsync froze at "updated Calendar 2 of 12."  Uninstalled, cleared the registry, re-installed, nada.  All of my data (calendar, contacts, etc...) remains only on my handheld...

 

Is this a known issue that others have had?  Or something bizarre w/ my setup?

 

Desperately need the calendar function on both my laptop & the phone, but can't risk losing data.
