Palm Pixie Plus Audio Issues

I just got the phone yesterday, but my end of the conversation sounds rough and a little like I'm "underwater" according to those on the other end.  I played with the volumn, but it didn't seem to make much difference.  When I try to record my voicemail greeting, it is barely understandable.  I have tried holding it different ways to make sure I'm not covering the microphone, but no difference. 

I'll give it a few days and see.  So far I'm not sure this is the phone for me. Anyone else have this issue?  I'm going to try it in different places around town to see if that makes a difference.
