HI,

 

I am thinking of activating a palm centro, does anyone know if this phone requires the $30 data plan?

Since the phone was released prior to 11-14-08 the Centro does not require a data plan

Sorry, but Verizon must have changed that.  I got a Centro, switched phones and got charged $49.99 per month extra for a business data plan.  I called Customer Service; they said I would be REQUIRED to have at the very least a $29.99 data plan with the Centro.  So I cancelled the Centro and picked up a used Treo 755P, for which I don't have to upgrade my plan.  I had to specifically request the "Pay-As-You-Go" Data Plan, and I don't use the Web; so I don't pay any extra.  The 755P is almost indentical to the Centro in most respects, has a little more user memory and it's a bit larger, but the keys are a whole lot better spaced: I don't misdial as I did the week I had the Centro.
