Upgraded and purchased the palm pre plus a couple months ago..not the easiest to get used to but willing to give it a go and try to make it work, keyboard had issues with sticking letters and overly sensitive touch screen one minute then insensitive screen another and battery life was awful, killed it in less than a day. OS system was pretty nice, but key board was awful, letters sticking and giving multiple letters and others very diffiicult to depress to get a response ,in other words a lot of mispelled words. very professional. Tuesday night was getting a couple texts and noticed phone was unusually hot. Then noticed battery life falling quite quickly. Was on a business call and dropped it 8 times, noticed signal strength ramping up to 3G and down to nothing. Tried charging and got nothing, over night did get a 30% charge and actually swapped out batteries to a fully charged battery from 7.30am to 9.30 am that battery went to 0% and the phone was very hot. I had visited the verizon store the previous week comlaining of issues and so I went to Verizon again and spent over an hour trying to get help. Rep couldnt help, but was nice, ended up finally with manager who was nice but not willing to do much other than replace the phone, I said I did not want another palm pre plus, and my only option was to pay more money to get a mildly used phone. Didnt mind the swap being used, but wasnt willing to pay more than the deal offered to other upgraders or my upgrade only 3 months prior. Once in your contract you are stuck and at the mercy of the system no matter how bad the equiptment and your only option is to keep the broken equiptment or get same bad product refurbished. After being a customer for many years, acually was a customer before verizon was in this market over 20 years ago.I am very disheartend that the management is not given more options to help customers than I witnessed this week. I have seriously given thought to paying the penalty of cancelling my contract and move to another provider.
Same Exact problem with my original Pre Plus, Cooked a new battery in less than an hour, I was in the store and had the Sales guy hold the phone, he almost dropped it, it was so hot. Had a major short under the keyboard, Just get a replacement and move on, I haven't had a minutes problem with this second Pre.
So - after the rant, what did you decide to do? I personally would recommend following MacDaddy's advice...
You might also spend some time listening to Jimmy Buffett's "Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On"... Works swell for me when I get my nose out of joint.
Sticking with my Verizon Palm Pre Plus instead of going the Droid route has turned into one of the better decisions I've made this year. Court is still out on whether or not I will choose to stick with Verizon. My customer loyalty is predicated upon services currently received, not all those years which have already passed that I've been here - but then that has *always* been the case with me.
