My latest handset is a Palm Centro... a so-called smart phone. It seems to be a good sturdy piece of equipment, however the SMART technology has let me down. I think. The only part I wanted at the time I upgraded (may 2009) is the qwerty keyboard.
BUT my smart phone is not capable of downloadable ringtones! How dumb is that?
The bluetooth pairing strength(?) is so sketchy that I just gave up and use a wired one.
The keylock feature can't lock out a pen or other items in my purse or pocket so what's the point?
It occasionally hangs while I'm texting.
It tries to connect or sync on its own while I'm asleep. Just sitting there on the table!
I occasionally get data charges that nobody (me or 3 different support techs and 2 in-store guys) can figure out where they came from. The only service extra I have is 1500 text/pix/vid messages for $15. I do not subscribe to the data thing. The phantom charges are small enough to put up with as of now but its still wrong.
I still have my old and fully functional Samsung from 2006, on the original battery too! My next upgrade will be to a Samsung for sure. The Centro and the palm technology isn't bad. I like it except for the phantom data stuff and so on.
The WORST phone I've ever had in my life was the LG chocolate!
I also have a Palm Centro without a data plan. The data charges you are getting are actually from your text messages. Picture message are where you get the largest charge. There is no way on the phone to separate the data from a text/pic message and straight data usage. So you are basically double charged for them. I already talked to a csr about this. I was basically told eat the cost or get a data plan.
The hotsync on its own I have never had that problem. I would try a hard reset, sets the centro back to defaults, and try it again.
