4G...Seriously

It amazes me that all these companies are touring 4G when they haven't even been able to establish reliable 3G service in areas other than the large metro areas. Ever since Verizon took over Alltel we have seen poorer service and very unreliable service. It also amazes me that you can look in any direction and see a variety of cell towers but not be able to get a 3G connection and now they are trying to sell 4G!!! What a joke!!!

Gee, technology is nothing if not frustrating.  I can tell you from my personal experience that reliable 3g coverage is VERY VERY VERY WIDESPREAD WAY WAY WAY BEYOND large metro areas.  I have used it in nearly every state PERSONALLY, including Missouri.  That does not mean your transition from Alltel has been smooth.  I am only aware of what I have read.  If you go without service, count the days and pro-rate your payment, same as you would with the cable company. After you let them know, of course.  And I am assuming you have already contacted them to address any issue and have not reached any other resolution.  4G is real and not a joke.

I have no problem receiving 3G on my Droid or USB760 driving all over the SE USA.

Hey Moboy, 

This won't help but since I last posted, I've talked with an Alltel customer in Virginia whose problems may be similar to yours.  Just by way of info, there the acquisition greatly increased the traffic without a corresponding increase in transmission capability.  His has gone on awhile but improvements are planned.  Sorry this doesn't help much.

I have used the Sprint Evo 4 G & is a heck of a device with no problems on Sprints network and now  I see vrz will have the exact same phone that so far verizon is calling it  thunderbolt.  Those I know that have iphones said they would prefer the thunderbolt when it comes out. Anyone know of when the thunderbolt will be availible.

Don't worry, if 3g isn't working well in your area chances are you won't be eligible or 4g and it won't affect you

I agree you pay for 4G get 3G service. Also their pricing is higher on a lot of products than the other carriers and they woul't match price they always give you some stupid answer why thinks that the public is stupid. I can't wait for my contract to run out because I'm out of here.
