Call waiting on the Thunderbolt

when you are on a call, and get another call and answer it, how do you hang up the second call without disconnecting both? even after the caller has hung up, (ive tested this so I know the second line is clear) the second call still shows up as on hold. you can even toggle back and forth using the flash button. the only way ive found to clear that is to end the call! NOT COOL. I get a lot of phone calls and call waiting is an invaluble feature to me, I need to be able to know that the second line is clear and/or be able to have independant control over the primary and secondary calls that are in progress. Im not the only one having this issue, even had the guy at verizon try it with his, same thing, his was even a firmware rev before mine! his was 1.13.605.6, mine is 1.13.605.7.

Switching between calls

If you’re already on a call and accept another call, you can choose to switch between the two calls.

1.When you receive another call, tap Answer to accept the second call, and to put the first call on hold.

2.To switch between the calls, tap the person you want to talk to on the screen.

3.To end the current call and return to the other call, tap End call.

yes, I know how to move between calls, and I know how this should work bu this is different, the second call never clears from the phone after the 2nd caller has hung up! Ive tried being the one that ends the call and it still hangs up on both callers. the only way to clear it is to end the call.

Haven't tried it myself but the way I read it is you would be "connected " to the call you want to disconnect an tap the call end. This would disconnect the current caller and you could return to the other. (Maybe I'm reading it wrong )

When I answer a call, and am on the phone, I answer the incoming call and I see it  place caller 1 on hold, and answer caller 2 however, when caller 2 hangs up, the call never shows as cleared from the phone even after going back to caller 1. if I tap on the call from caller 2 and hit end call, it hangs up on caller 1 even if I hit end call before caller 2 hangs up, this should only hang up caller 2, but it hangs up both calls. in other words, hitting end call hangs up both lines, not just one or the other. for example I came to this device from an iphone 4 here is call waiting on the iphone

call in progress  --> call waiting beep --> answer caller 2 --> caller 2 hangs up or end call with caller 2 --> phone returns to only having one call on hold --> unhold call, resume call with caller 1

call in progress  --> call waiting beep --> answer caller 2 --> caller 2 hangs up call still shows as connected --> tap caller 1 --> device shows that caller 2 is still on hold --> tap caller 2 --> shows that caller 1 is on hold and your talking to caller 2 but its still caller 1- select the 2nd line and hit end call, call disconnects. 

I know that this is difficult to explain, best I can tell you is to try it and see for yourself call your cell, then make another call to your cell. have both calls there, hang up the second call and you will see what Im talking about.

I tried it and it does do exactly as you describe, hanging up all calls. Although, right after it ended all calls, my phone rang with the last active call. When I tapped answer, I was immediately back on the call where I left off. You would think hitting end call would only end the call you are on and keep the other either on hold or automatically switch you to it. Regardless, if the second caller hangs up, they are actually gone, even though the display says otherwise and you can tap to switch to it. Strange.

mine does the exact same thing lol. that and random reboots im not to impressed by this..... I switched from AT&T because of their network around here and Verizon has awsome service, too bad I cant take advantage of it!. very very frustrating

When your phone rang you back after ending the call did the screen still show both callers?

I've found that when a caller hangs up and I don't hit the end call (sometimes I'm concentrating on driving and either don't hit my Bluetooth to end or my corded mic end call button) my phone ends the call for me. I will try to time this to see how long before it does this.

The screen still does show both callers even if one has hung up. I stayed on the first call for over five minutes and the second call that was hung up was still showing on the screen as on hold with the timer still incrementing. So, looks like this is definitely a bug (no it's a feature! ).

Thank you for brining this rather odd issue to our attention. We tested the issue with a Thunderbolt (using both a DROID 2 and a DROID X as the second caller) We found that when on two calls (speaking on one and the other on Call Waiting) you see the option to switch calls. When the second caller hangs up the call and you switch back to the first call, the option to switch callers remains, even though there is only one active call remaining. When you do switch calls, you will notice no one is there on the second call. You are all correct when stating that pressing END disconnects BOTH calls, so it is best to simply allow one of the callers to disconnect the call on their end. 

Please note: When using Call Waiting (or Three-Way Calling) you are using minutes for each call, or in other words for each minute both calls are active, you are using two minutes out of your calling plan (Peak times only). Be assured, although when the second caller disconnects and your phone still shows the option to switch calls, you are only being billed for one call at that time.
