@random64, I have been playing with the HTC ONE with sense at Costco for weeks now and I can say I really do like Sense 5. I have used a Nexus device before and I like the minimalist feel to it but think I would miss some of the new HTC features. I'm a little torn though if they did allow the ONE (Nexus/ Google/ Vanilla) version on the Verizon network as the updates would be instant and not take months to pass down through a Verizon branded device. Currently this is not an issue but I can imagine a year from now, if Verizon offers us the ONE, we will all be in another thread complaining of the lack of updates on Verizon vs other carriers have received for the ONE. With a 32GB as base model I think I can deal with the Verizon bloat software.

I'm no longer waiting for Verizon.  I am jumping ship and purchasing through Costco Wireless ( you don't have to have a membership).  I'm going with AT&T  .   I don't like AT&T due to UVerse but hopefully their other services are better.

This is just too much of a cluster in lack of communication.  All of these different HTC One variants are coming out along with S4 & S4 mini, but still no communication that you could pick up any HTC One phone you want and use it on the Verizon network.

Verizon....  Either you are getting the HTC One or you are not.  If you cannot get things together (a lot like your updates to 6 months old phones) then there really is no reason that I can see worth staying.   Plus AT&T will be cheaper for me and their plans seem a bit more straight forward.   ---So Long Verizon---   It's time for us to split, but we can still be friends Smiley Happy

And you will NEVER get a statement like this from Verizon, at least as long as Verizon uses CDMA for their phone service and other providers use GSM. The phones don't necessarily have the correct hardware installed to access the network.

Verizon is playing a very dangerous game in my eyes. Once the other carriers catch up to their network coverage (which should happen by year end in my area) they are going to lose the edge of customer loyalty that they now enjoy.

I for one am waiting on ATT to finish up in my area which they are presently working on. Once that happens its bye bye V and hello GSM phones. It sure will be nice to just be able to pop in a sim and go.

If I were Verizon I would be doing everything in my power to keep customers happy. The network coverage advantage will not last forever. Just take a look at what has happened to Apple. Folks start to realize that there are other products out now that are just as good if not better than what you have to offer. Verizon may take the same hit as Apple if they don't get their act together soon. How long did it take for Samsung, HTC, Sony, LG to catch up to Apple ? Different businesses but same philosophy. Bottom line for any long term successful business= Always make sure you keep customers happy !

Looking around this forum and many others, I see a lot of unhappy folks. The only reason I am with Verizon is because of their network coverage, but that isn't gonna last forever ! Not being offered an endless list of phones, delayed updates, data caps and pricing has taken a toll on my customer loyalty. Who cares what the company name is as long as they have good coverage and decent prices. Whoever wins that battle will get my business.

@rcschnoor:  I think Bob was simply venting frustration at Verizon for the lack of any confirmation of a One release on the Verizon network. With all the rumors of these devices coming down the pipeline, but no solid release date for anything on Verizon, other than the S4.

Verizon doesn't sell global phones?

@summit - You got it!   I don't expect verizon to have to carry all of these variants of phones if they cannot handle them or support them.   But if someone wants to pickup an HTC One (cause they are friggen cool) then it will not be with Verizon, as of today.  And that to me is the problem.

Everything that we have read today is all RUMORS.

You know I honestly don't think that will be the case.

Yes other networks are expanding to catch up to Verizon, but Verizon is also expanding. I feel that before anyone else overtakes them, it will get to a point where everywhere in the entire country is covered by all 4 major providers. At that point, then we'll see the competition really start.

People complain about Verizon's prices, but if you think about it they charge them the way they do because they can. For a lot of people, other carriers simply aren't options. But if everywhere in the US is covered by everyone, we'll start seeing competition for prices, good old capitalism.

Until that point, there's no reason for them to worry too much. People like the service they provide too much to leave, and statistically Verizon is gaining customers not losing them.

While Verizon might have the most extensive network of major carriers, and a large customer base that can work against it. I have seen ATT HSPA+ with faster speeds here than Verizon's 4G LTE, due to greater demand on the Verizon network. I have also read that ATT 4GLTE is blazingly fast is some metro areas vs. Verizon.

Verizon has a Device Payment Plan now where you can pony up a down payment and finance the rest of the price of the phone over a 12 month term. I intend to go this route and get $320 from HTC to trade up or $385 from Samsung if the One doesnt hit Big Red!!!
