HTC Rezound loses network signal

I have had the Rezound for a couple of months now & have been having this problem for almost as long. The phone will be perfectlyzou fine then all of a sudden it loses it's network connection. The 4G disappears from the screen making the phone useless. I'll be on the phone trying to browse the web or send a text or streaming music then all of a sudden the network connection is gone. It comes back after a few minutes & sometimes will do this several times before it goes back to normal. It won't even switch to 3G. I have called support several times & they have verified that all settings are as they should be. Any ideas on how to fix this short of doing a master reset on the phone??

rfebles1,

Good morning!

I'm sorry that your experience is anything less than stellar. I would like to help. Is this happening in more than one or two locations? It sounds like you may be on the border of a 3G/4G area and the phone will try to pick up on which is strongest. What city and state are you located in? If you go into Settings>Wireless & Networks>Network Settings>Network Mode> and select CDMA only, you may see a stable connection. This will enable 3G only, however I'm asking you do this for only an hour or two to see if the signal continues to go in and out. Please send me (AdamE_VZW) a direct message with more information so I can assist further.

Thanks

I have the same issue with my Rezound and I am in a pretty solid 4G area.  Some days when this happens, it drops to 1X, completely bypassing 3G - or it will lag for a few minutes with no data signal.

same issue here....it's worst in my office where i sometimes use it as a hotspot.  It will work perfectly for a minutes and then nothing at all, then reconnect.  I'll try switching to the 3G to see if that helps...

This happened alot with my wife's ReZound, We replaced the sim and no good she continued to have issues and I was suggested to get a new back for the phone. That fixed her right up. Appearently the attenas are on the back. After getting the new back I took out my ohm meeter and tested the old back compared to the new back sure enough one if not two of the connects were open and the new one I was able to close the loop and get tone on all connector pairs. Give it a shot. she almost never loses 4g anymore.....

I have noticed this quite frequently and of course at the most annoying moments.  I have a reconditioned Rezound and over the last few weeks I am often opening up an app including the stock browser and google play and it can't find the network connection.  The phone showed it just an instant before.  Then the connection seems to become very flaky.  There is a side of me that wants to reboot the phone (see the next paragraph) but I am very gun shy of that.

I have put routinely my phone into 3G mode both to get around the data drop issue and to conserve battery.  One time two weeks ago I did this and the phone started responding very slowly, so I rebooted.  When I rebooted it, it started the nasty boot loop (don't reboot your Rezound in 3G at this time).  An hour and a half at Verizon corporate store with them on the phone with Verizon tech support, dozens of battery pulls, radio upgrade, a new sim card and then a factory reset (by then they had to charge the phone to do the reset since the battery was drained to 17%) - and the phone was 'usable' again but the network dropping issue continues.

I have started searching for a fix.  I am wondering if I should look to get a new back, maybe that is a quick easy fix.  I am not fond of the standard answer of 'wait for ics'.  I will be happy to see ics come but until it is ready, I am struggling.

Thoughts?

I am having this exact same issue as well. We've done a soft reset, a hard/factory reset, replaced the SIM card & I've gotten a replacement and it still has the same issue. It occurs regardless of whether I'm in a 4G or 3G area & regardless of what city I happen to be in. A tech at one of the stores adjusted the network setting & this still didn't correct the issue. I got this phone just over a month ago & feel frustrated too because now I'm probably going to be stuck with this phone for 2 years. I like the phone itself, I just want this issue resolved but no one at Verizon seems to have any idea about why this is occurring nor do they seem to want to try to figure it out.

I had the same problem on my Rezound until I took matters into my own hands back in February or March, because I couldn't wait for it to happen on its own. I cannot give the full details on here, even though they are harmless, but it resolved the incredibly poor network stability that affected two, separate Rezounds equally. It made the Rezound the phone that it should have been in the first place. PM me and I can offer you guys some guidance, if you want.

There are many spots online that indicate the new ICS update improves the radio on the device, allowing greater stability on 4G. This would imply that the original state of the phone or the radio was less than what it needed to be to run reliably. Great phone, but without ICS, it is virtually unusable.
