Hi john511,
Let's get to the bottom of this! What zip code are you located in? Does this happen in a specific area or everywhere you travel? Please share more details, so I may help. Thank you.

I am having the same problem.
The zip codes I frequent are 44011, 44054, 44052, and 44055.
Previously all these areas had good 4G reception, but now I can only get 3G. If the 4G icon does come on there is no reception and I get 404 no page load errors.
Can you explain where the 4G went?

i get the same probles. the coverage map shows ALL of Delaware as 4g service yet my brand new phone, is always going to 3g service and stuck like that till i reboot the phone. im using the new samsung galaxy s3. got the typical answer from verizon to take out battery and sim card for 15 seconds. still nothing. went to verizon store and they have unqualified people working there. they employee told me he hasnt even seen the phone im using yet. when in 3g the phone is useless. my old phone, htc incredible 3g and worked and yet this supposed top of the line phone the s3 cant even work. of course all this happened right after the 14 day return/exchange ended. why am i paying for 4g service and not getting it? the galaxy s3 might be a top of the line phone but not with verizon.

Out of curiousity, are you on an unlimited data plan?
I too have the S3 and find myself about three weeks past the 14 day window.
I have also tried the battery / sim card pull twice this morning. On the second try, 4G came on for about fifteen seconds, but quickly reverted back to 3G. Verizon better come up with an explaination quick. Avon, OH is blanketed by 4G, but all I have is Edsel 3G.

Just to put it into perspective, here are a couple of maps.
Where I live
Where I work.
As of late, we have had multiple data outages where the "Network" is down for several hours and now it seems 4G has been replaced by 3G. Verizon what's the deal here?
I pay for 4G mobile data, so where's my 4G?

My 4G came back @ 6:15 this morning and so far is doing fine. Anybody else get there 4G back? I am waiting to see what happens later today when demand increases.

Well, this was predictable.
It's a little after 4PM and my 4G has gone the way of the Dodo.

Michaeljtimko, I can see how the 4g fluctuation can be troubling. Have you tried to disable/enable airplane mode? Do you have any connection issues while on 3g? Do you have any other issues with the phone?^SP

When its in 3G the internet is working at its turtle like efficiency compared to my normal speedy 4G. I have not tried airplane mode. I will do that next time it stops working. At the moment, I am in 4G.
