Dear XXXXX,
Thank you for emailing Technical Support in regards to your Thunderbolt getting Android 2.3.
We are excited about the Operating System 2.3 Gingerbread update coming for Android, and while HTC will definitely have some phones running this Operating System, we do not have a specific timeframe for updates. Our goal is to give every customer the best possible experience on every phone. Every HTC phone is a combination of a unique HTC hardware and software experience and a core operating system. We only update our phones if it will provide an overall improved user experience as we balance features, performance and usability. Keep an eye on our official website and official social media outlets for announcements
We appreciate your patience, Trevor.

Doesn't really matter what HTC says, it is ultimately up to the carrier to decide when they will release the OTA for our phones. It is a given that 2.3 is out in the wild now and that newer OS's are being worked on even as we speak.
So while it is nice that HTC may make an announcement that an OS will be made available to the general public, that does not always translate into the OS being available immediately for any carrier or device for that matter.
