our HTC Rhyme will not connect to 3G when other phones are connected to 3G with full bars.
All the bars are full but yet it never indicates 3G and apps that require it do not work.
Is there any settings (other than the connection on off setting)?
What is the phone connecting to? Settings > About phone > signal
The mobile network is turned on and says it is connected?
Do you have a 3G or 1x symbol next to the signal bars?

My phone does the same thing and it mostly says 1x! I wouldn't recommend this phone to anyone!!!
I had a problem like this and I took my phone into a Verizon store. I was always losing my 3g connection and couldn't receive texts or anything. The tech guy said that it was my data settings. If you go to your Wireless and Networks - mobile networks - Allow Access Only For This Trip. That solved my problem and I no longer lose my 3g signal. Hope this helps.
