Thunderbolt Dock / Desktop Charger

I've seen some posts out there regarding the availability of the Thunderbolt Desktop Charger HTC6400DTC that was advertised on the website the same time I ordered my new Thunderbolt. The availability of a dock /desktop charger is one of the things that made me choose the Thunderbolt despite early reports of battery life issues. It isn't until I go to order it a day or so after processing my Thunderbolt purchase (not sure why I didn't get it then, but I've done similar in the past) and find that it is now out of stock and has been since then.

My question is really how others are compensating for the lack of a dock/desktop charger? I have stored chargers in my desk at work, on my nightstand and in my car in addition to a few floating chargers around the house. I had intended on having a desktop charger/dock at work and at home for my nightstand.

So  I guess what I'm looking for are recommendations on how to create a desktop charger/dock like environment without having cords all over the place.

Also - has anyone had any luck with the non-OEM devices?

Personally I'm very frustrated about Verizon's lack of information about the availability of the dock. Is it ever going to be available or in stock? I see some people were able to purchase them b/c there is a review out there for it.

There is one on another site HTC shop or something. U cam charge extra battery and phone.

Are you sure you can charge both the phone and extra battery , at the same time, without requiring both an AC connection and a separate USB power connection?

I've found that to be the case with the aftermarket ones from Mobi and others. That would mean extra cables (AC cord and USB connected to a PC or USB charger) which I think that the OP is looking to avoid.

I too have been asking for status on this HTC branded, specific to the Thunderbolt Desktop device but seem to be being ignored by both HTC and Verizon.

I found a similar device on Best Buy's website.  Now granted this does not charge an extra battery, but it will allow you to use any charger plugged into the side of the phone.  You can position the phone either in landscape or portrait mode and have your stock charger plugged into the side.  The item can be seen on Best Buy's website (SKU #1199257) and the cost is almost half of the dock listed on Verizon's website.

I'd really really like to handle both charging functions with one device and one required power source

I have used an extended battery since day one and because my day is longer that even it (the 2750mah battery) can cover I'd like to have my spare ( standard or extended, I have both) fully charged to swap when I get back home

it wasn't this one exactly, but similar. the batteries that came with it were junk, but the charger worked fine and it had a usb input on the bottom, so you plug it into the wall, insert the spare, and plug the device into the usb input. it charged my spare and my incredible at the same time, with one wall outlet (AGAIN.....this one is not the same one so i can't vouch for it's effectiveness....but there are ones on ebay that will do it)

I am not affiliated with this site in any way other than I love his docks so much I bought 6 of them, 3 for my Incredible and now I have 3 for my Thunderbolt. The only downside is that they won't charge an extra battery, but I bought those 2 x 1700 mah batteries plus wall charger packages from Ebay. I bought the plastic TB dock that available now, and it was horrible. Can't use a case, and it was hard to get in and out. Plus, the TB was too upright for viewing

Like that dock! Too bad it doesn't charge an extra battery. I may be resigned to getting 2 separate products because HTC dropped the ball on the HTC6400DTC and Verizon doesn't seem to care.

Your difficulties in finding a dock have not fallen on deaf ears.  We currently are out of stock (as you already know) of the Dock.  I have the SKU for it, but when I try to order it, it shows out of stock in all areas. I checked our inventory, and we do not have an ETA of if or when these will become available again.

While we can't suggest a specific 3rd party, that doesn't mean you cannot purchase one.  We just couldn't support the accessory if you did purchase it from a 3rd party site. 

Good luck with your purchase, check our site every now and then to see if it becomes in stock again.

while i appreciate you looking into this, just an fyi.....it has NEVER been available as far as i know. the dock was advertised and it showed up on various sites (including verizon i believe?), but has not been released. while i was disappointed, i was not surprised, since they never did put out a real dock for the incredible. it seems as though htc and other carriers get the docks out there....and verizon and other manufacturers get the docks out there (see multiple motorola docks). however, the htc phones for verizon just don't seem to get a dock????
