Thunderbolt SMS Problem

First off, this is NOT the sim issue that everyone has been having. I had that also and already took care of that problem. My issue now is that I am not receiving replies to text messages  from people. It is not happenening with just 1 person either. I have called them to verify that they are receiving my messages, and asked if they replied, all of which stated they had, Great. Now sometimes if I send myself a message, mine shows up, along with 1 or 2 of the replies from a while back. This is really really really starting to irritate the every living crap out of me and something needs to be done. I have already pulled the battery for 15 minutes along with the sim card. Has anyone else had this issue or is it a known problem which has a fix?  Thanks in advance

This happens sometimes with nearly all Verizon phones. It's not a phone issue, rather a network issue. I've found that calling the person who I'm texting just to get the call to connect, and then hanging up will bring in a flood of text messages. Also, you could try updating your PRL by dialing *228, option 2.

*228 doesn't work on the Thunderbolt and shouldn't be used since everything is managed by the sim card.  It's supposed to immediately disconnect the call but some people have managed to goof up their sim cards.

Ah, thank you. I hadn't heard that *228 didn't work on the Thunderbolt. In that case, I can't think of any fix for the OP's problem. It definitely just sounds like a network hangup.

i ordered my tbolt today and when i asked about activating, he told me to just dial *228. i explained that i thought that the sim card would cativate it itself, and that when i get the phone i was simply supposed to turn off my old device, insert the sim, and turn on the phone....to which he replied, "yes, and then dial *228. all of our phones are activated this way." i said "really? even phones with sim cards and the iphone?" he said "yes." i then recieved my email verifying my order with instructions to dial *228 when i receive my phone. just so i'm clear, the sim card "should" activate it on it's own, correct????? i didn't feel like debating the guy, but when when i got email instructions telling me to do this also, i got a bit concerned.

and for the record, i've never had any texting issues with any verizon phone. i've been texting for about 5 years on 4 or 5 different devices. i've never had any issues?

I purchased mine in store but believe the paper work that comes with online orders lists an 800 number to call.  You can also apparently do the device switch online in My Verizon.  Once you get everything set and put the sim card in the phone, it should start activating on boot

Yah just put your sim card in and it will over the air activate..

I don't know why stores are telling people to star 228 for 4g devices.. what a joke

The sim issue is where your sim number shows up on the other person's phone when you send texts instead of your actual phone number.
