Thunderbolt fails to see an update

down_to_my_last_nerve

I have had my Thunderbolt since July and it has yet to give me an update. Searching for one yields no luck. also when I connect it to the PC the drivers fail to install. Funny I bought two thunderbolts on the same day one for my son and I. His was able to get the update while mine does not. When I go to my software update on the phone and check Status it shows no information for "Name" "Status" "Code" "Date" "Time" " Description". any and help would be helpful here since I failed to get the support I asked for in store.

Thanks...

Can you clearify what update are you waiting for...    Please go to Settings / Apout Phone / Software Information and see if under Software Number do you show 2.11.605.9 because this is the most recent upfate for the device...

Also as for the areas that you reported doesnt show anything, my device is the same way so this seems to be normal...

That version is from the update in May.

You might need to find a RUU file and manually update to phone.

You are correct Ann, that looks like it may have been the version that the device was released with and I got mine after it had been updated a few times...  The only way they may get the update is to use a RUU to get them up to date....   The store should be able to help with this..  That is strange that the device was sold without being updated all this time..

B33 the update page you posted reported the same version number that I posted... 2.11.605.9, there is a leak version but it isnt anywhere ready for everyday use...

This image is from May when I got the update that you are currently on.  I have also attached the PDFs for the next couple of update that occurred after the May update.

Boy I really didnt realize how many version of updates that the TB has went through....   Users complained aout not getting updates but it looks like the device has been updated more than some of the other devices...

1.13.605.7

1.70.605.0

2.11.605.0

2.11.605.5

2.11.605.7

2.11.605.9

ICS coming - Exact date not announced...

Boy we have been the lucky ones to get this much attention..  And dont forget if 1.13.605.7 was a update in may there was a build pryer to that build..

I didn't even attach the April update PDF (pulled and pushed in May instead) and the small update that B33 linked to earlier.  The September update was the original GB update, but many people didn't get it (including me) at that time until the November update (2.11.605.9) was pushed to users.

Yes I realize that, I had my device for that update and I got the 2.11.605.7 update that got pulled but since I used Better YouMail I didnt have the notification issue that was reported...  3rd party apps worked fine but since so many got worked up they pulled it until the patched update was released..

Hopefully the user can locate a recent RUU and correct the issue because a number of host sites has been taken offline.

I had forgotten that many of the upload sites were shut down by the government.

"Software # is 1.13.605.7"

I believe that was an early software version from when the phone was first released. Why the phone has been updated is beyond me.

One of the first updates required for the phone to be set to 1X connection in order for the phone to find the next update and begin the download process.

Since we are several updates since that version, it might be worth it for the OP to locate a RUU file and complete the update manually. This update method will cause the phone to be factory reset during the installation.

I went through this with my Thunderbolt. Finally a VZW rep from here was able to work with Internal VZW and HTC and she got the correct firmware pushed to my phone. Let me guess. When you check for s/w updates, the checking window shows up and then just vanishes. Right?

Search for my posts back in Oct - Nov. A VZW rep on here contacted me via PMs to get this resolved eventually. I refused to go the RUU route as I should NOT have to download the firmware from a non VZW site. If you can get the RUU from one of the VZW or HTC servers go for it but else, you paid for the device and hence make them work for you as that is what customer service is all about.

It wasn't easy for me to get it done but it was eventually done. The problem is that you missed more than 2 updates in a row so now your phone is off the grid of sorts for s/w updates.
