Why no Thunderbolt yet?

Ok Verizon, why dont you release the Thunderbolt already?

seriously, you guys are such a tease.

at least give us the date which it will be released. some of us actually need phones for business and would love the Thunderbolt, but may have to go with the Evo 4G for sprint.

you want people to buy your device correct? why not actually give us some useful information.

also, i havent seen any commercials for it. or at least not many, but with your other phones you guys aired the commercials like crazy. this is the first 4G phone from you guys, so why not advertise it? it almost seems like you guys are keeping it hush hush.

unless the whole thing about Steve Jobs paying you guys off is true...

yes, seriosuly. that thread is old, and doesnt have much updated info.

that post was back in january, and they asked why no advertising of anything but the iphone as well.

see how weeks before the iphone came out, we had a release date to look forward to and a preorder date?

why not with the Tbolt. the phone is obviously better than the iphone.

its the first real 4G phone, wouldnt you advertise the hell out of that and get people to buy it?

but nah VZW is all about the iPhone, an outdated, non 4G phone. WTF verizon???

Did you read through the whole thread? The last post was submitted on February 11, 2011 which was yesterday and had the rumored release date on February 24, 2011.

i did see that, but again, who is saying it?

If verizon would just announce a date already, i could get ready for that date.

if they arent gonna say anything about it, then it must be true. it is because they dont want people to return their iPhone 4s.

and that, is sad. consumer bullying.

If that is the case, they have been doing that for years.  News release from HQ says XYZ phone will be released tomorrow.  A month later the same thing with ABC phone that is bigger and better than the XYZ phone.  Sure a lot of customers will be upset, but they did sign a contract when they got XYZ phone at discounted price instead of the full retail.  For most of us, the rumors are the only thing holding us back from not waiting for that "it" phone to come along.

Considering VzW announced the Thunderbolt, Bionic, and Revolution (three 4g Android handsets) to come out "first half 2011"... a month ago at CES, I don't think there's any "consumer bullying" going on. It's the consumer's fault if they can't even be bothered to research actually announced devices. It's not like the Thunderbolt is some super secret phone that VzW is just going to randomly unleash one day without any prior warning (cough cough Droid 2 Global cough cough).

Well, here is the deal! I called Verizon today to see if it was released....they again said no! We just released the xoom, why would we release a new phone at the same time? Stupid question I thought to myself....UM "MORE BUSINESS"!!! Dope, anyway...I decided to call HTC and guess what? They had no clue either. Im going to wait till the 28th, if it is not out by then, I will not be renewing my contract and will be going to Sprint.

ITS JUST THAT EASY!

Oh yeah, that'll teach 'em, no doubt. You show 'em who's boss.

Then give us a call on that Sprint phone service and let us know how it's going....

But wait.....:smileywink:

You "lol" but you know it's true. They pre-announced the Droid Pro and just kinda... launched the previously-unmentioned Droid 2 Global along with it. Along with, you know, the fact that their staff didn't seem to know ANYTHING about the device except what was on the website.

I had wrote the LOL because I remember following the whole lead up to it.  The fan sites knew about it, said "Where the news release, VZ? but then the phone just showed up in the stores like magic.  It was hilarious! :smileyvery-happy:

I don't think any phone is announced until they know FOR SURE that it will be ready at that time.  Same thing goes for firmware updates, and Verizon is super secretive about this.  The T-Bolt production has run into some bumps in the road regarding some included features and they want to make sure that everything works to the best of it's ability.  As it is, something is bound to not work properly (there is always some thing, just google any smartphone and I'm sure you will find a whole host of issues with each one) and all the yelling and screaming of "Release it already!" quickly turns into "This is the worst phone ever, why was it ever released?"  If Verizon had actually announced the original rumored release date of Feb. 14th, they would have had one of two options, release a phone where an included feature (either Skype or Hotspot if the rumors are true) does not function properly, or delay it.  Either way, they would have a virtual riot on their hands.  Just have some patience, it will be here before you know it and, 3 months down the road, you will just be complaining because this fancy new phone you just bought is outdated already.

In addition, IMHO, it is not a good idea to buy a new, untested phone, on a mostly untested network right out of the gate.  It would most likely behoove you to wait a little while and read some user reviews before you commit.  Remember, nobody is going to look down on you just because you don't have the absolutely latest and greatest and, if they do, you need new friends.

well, 4G is a huge step over 3G so im sure it will be better.

in the next few months,  i know what phones are coming out, and i dont like any, besides the Thunderbolt.

reason why im pushy on them giving us a date is well, nobody likes to play that guessing game. this is a business phone, used for business purposes. or well it will be, anyway. but i canceled my other phone the day i preordered it from BB, and my service will be cut off on the 25th of this month. hoping it comes on the 24th at least 😕

You know, the radio isn't the only piece of hardware in the phone.  There are lots of things that go into these phones nowadays and being a first adopter can sometimes get you into trouble.

Me too, but I would still be willing to wait for any flaws the phone may have to be uncovered and decide whether or not they are something I could live with.

reason why im pushy on them giving us a date is well, nobody likes to play that guessing game.  But, as I stated before, they will not give a date if they are not completely sure the phone will be ready at that date.  From a Business perspective, no date is much better than a date that may not be met.  this is a business phone, used for business purposes. or well it will be, anyway. but i canceled my other phone the day i preordered it from BB, and my service will be cut off on the 25th of this month. hoping it comes on the 24th at least 😕  Well, now that was just plain stupid.  Now I'm kind of hoping it comes out in March.

It's just Sprint's EVO with an LTE radio instead of a WiMax radio... how much do you think HTC doesn't already know about the hardware/software?

That's not entirely true.  It has a newer version of the processor, more ram, more internal memory, bigger pre-installed sd card, and that's just from the spec end.  No telling what kind of other new components have made it into this thing.  Not to mention it is going to be the first phone in the US to run the NEW Sense 2.0.  That right there says to me that there may be some possible trouble once Verizon gets ahold of it.

IDK everything I've read says that it's still got the same 1ghz Snapdragon SoC that the Droid Incredible/HTC Evo use, it does have MORE internal memory, but that's not a significant change, and Sense 2.0, while new to the US, isn't new, and I haven't heard of problems with it overseas so I don't know why it would magically create problems in the US?

And the SD card? You can put a 32GB SD card in the Incredible or the EVO, having one preloaded doesn't necessitate any extra testing above and beyond what they ALREADY do for the ones that come with smaller memory cards preloaded.

It has the newer version of the snapdragon so it may be a little different than the one found in older phones.  Add-in the LTE radio, a newer version of sense, tying in skype into the os, verizon's bloat and it probably takes a little while to get the bugs worked out.
