double contact info when creating a new sms

I go into message+.

I click on pencil to write.

Click on contacts.

I see 2 of each. And sometimes when I then click on a contact, their are two numbers for each phone - home, work, cell.

Does not happen when I go through contacts, select a contact, then click on message from there.

That is what I am now doing.

I am a software engineer.  Looks like some buffer/array not being cleared.

I also wonder if it is getting duplicate from 2 places - cloud and google?

my steps for reproduction are:

1. Open Messages+

2. Click on Pencil icon (bottom right corner)

3. Start to search for contact

4. Will see duplicate contacts, one with a formatted phone number and one without

Device: HTC One M8 (model # HTC6525LVW)

Android: 5.0.1

HTC Sense: 6.0

step 4 - will see duplicates. Duplicates both have all phone numbers.

Let's rollup our sleeves on this one to get this resolved once & for all. I appreciate the details & troubleshooting you have done so far to tackle the duplicate contacts issue. What happens when you use the native texting app that is on the phone? Do you run into the same problem? I switched to Textra - problems gone.

I think it had something to do with linking different contact lists - cloud, etc.

Textra seems to have eliminated all problems.
