since last month's update my attachments on my text messages are not downloading and I am getting "general network failure" error message. Attachments send with no problem but I cannot download attachments. All configurations are set according to instructions. Has anyone else experienced this?

Your phone is operating as designed, i.e., picture messages and group texts will not send/receive over wi-fi, they require a mobile data connection (as you've ascertained). However, they count against your text package, not your data plan.

Yep, both incoming and outgoing messages. So far that's the only issues I've found but I'm sure there will be more 😞

Yes, same here. Cannot download or send mms texts, and get general network failure, started with update. Very annoyed.

We want to have you all enjoying the new update on your phone! Are you using the original messaging application on your phone or did you down;oad something from the Play Store like Verizon Messages? If you turn your WiFi off, are you able to send/receive pictures and access the internet?

Constantly keep getting "unfortunately messaging has stopped" alert. This has been an ongoing problem for the last week. I have a Droid Ultra and had a system update on May 20th and is 19.6.3en us. I am not getting messages from contacts and I am also having issues sending messages. I have went back and fourth from Wi-Fi to cellular data, and still having problems. Is this an issue with my phone or is this an issue caused by the update?
I have also been having problems with my camera and it not working... Is this an issue with the phone or is it also an os issue? Are there any resolutions to these issues? I've seen where its being recommended to download the Verizon messaging app, but that should not be the solution, I've never had to use that before for messaging and should not have to now. Really getting frustrated with the android operating system and would seriously consider going back to an iPhone.

Hi Cmack66,
We want you to have a properly working device! Text messaging is a great way to communicate, so lets get this resolved. Has there been any liquid or physical damage to the device? Place the device in safe mode for a couple of hours to see if you still receive the issues http://vz.to/1l433CC . This help determine if another another application is causing the issues with the phone.
Thanks,

We all have the same problem...I'm quite sure that we did not all drop out phones on the toilet at the same time, although it sounds like we want to. There is obviously a problem with how or phones work now that we have the update. We just want Verizon to fix it...

Indireclty Verizon and HTC are favoring Facebook and asking us to use apps like Whatsapp for MMS that works over WiFi.
I dont understand why HTC or Verizon forcing us to turn on 4G/LTE to send messages that were working fine earlier????
My problem of Google Play is still not resolved, infact I noticed something wiered that when I turned on my phone my battery was 89% and after couple of minutes it became 92%
Its all because of that crap update

I turned the wifi off and sent multiple pics and had multiple pics sent to me: neither "sent" nor "received" went through.
I just received a red "!" and "general system failure" for both and the download tab for the received messages which never would download only the red "!".

uninstall it?

I agree. My mms messaging worked fine whether or not my mobile data was on until I updated my phone. I don't want to waste my data having it on just for a funny cat picture sent from a friend.

I agree with you... and appreciate your reply. Hopefully the person giving
me advice will see it, as you seem to have replied directly to me.
This update is horrific.

Same. I was sending pictures fine before the update, now it's a chore. I don't connect to the internet 24/7, so now I have to connect, type/send the message, and the disconnect. All for a stupid picture. And receiving pictures? I have to connect to the mobile network to get them. This is annoying, as I get several pictures a day from my family - my nephew was just born, so everything is pictureworthy at this stage of the game. It sucks - so much for things being delivered in an instant. Hugely disappointed that Verizon can't think that this is different than normal. It's like they don't even know how their own network works and don't trust their users when they say 'hey, this is broken - it didn't work like this before.'
