About a month ago I got a text from Verizon offering me an extra GB of Data for free. (jump from 3 up to 4). My average monthly usage hovers around 2GB, but in July Suddenly I get a Data Usage alert telling me I have used 3.75 GB (still about a week left to go on the cycle). Then for August, only 4 days into the cycle, I have already used almost a GB of data. I don't know where the jump in usage came from, my usage has not changed. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but it seems weird that Verizon would offer an extra GB of Data for free right before my usage jumps by almost 2 GB.
Check on your phone and see what app is using the data. It is far more likely something is using the data than Verizon has a nefarious plan to make phantom data.
