Gateway Activation

My gateway device will not connect to my router. I have been on the phone with tech support for three days and now they are telling me that although my case has been "escalated" to somebody who can turn it on, they have no way of knowing how long I will be waiting. I am paying for a service I cannot use. Considering all of the problems I have seen on these forums, is it worth the headache of hoping to one day use my Home Monitoring or should I look elsewhere for a better service?
