Would be delighted to hear what you think is the most innovative feature of new IMG?
So the toughest to implement was definitely the HD canvas... 16:9... took lots of secret sauce to get the set tops to do that trick... and make sure the GUI's don't go slow..
The multi-hub DVR (DVR's can access each others recordings) and the external storage expansion were also pretty tough on the developers to make work reliably.... especially under stress scenarios (recording 2 HD shows while playing back 3 HD streams... nearly 100Mbps of sustained bandwidth on the devices and home network).
Ultimately I think the most innovative depends on your perspective.
What's your favorite?
Man so many... Multi Hub with the new 7232 is SWEET! Recovering 30 deleted programs is awesome. Record from any STB as well as delete. HD IMG look and feel... So many nice features.
My personal favorite is the new Widgets carousel... because the graphics trick there (looks like Open GL) was really tough and the engineers really delivered on an experience that is beautiful and really fast.
I'm already on record for loving multi hub... But the recent deletes is useful too. Just upgraded 1 box to a 7232 (500GB) so I'm not in any hurry to try out the eSATA expansion.
As my family is a DVR hog we are really looking froward the the DVR to DVR share. I recently upgraded to the 7232 for one of my boxes so with the addition of an external HD we will have lots of room to save all of the "important" shows......unless it is mine then it seems to drop down the priority list.......
I hear that... my recordings fall in line after my wife's reality shows... and my shows Jake and the Pirates recordings.
Joe - Thanks for taking the time to chat. I read through the release notes quickly.....On the guide will the shows display the original air date?

Oh yes... air date is included in the guide data for 1.9... as well as avoiding the truncating of cast information (YIPPY!!!)
Thanks for your time today Joe. "The truncating of cast information" is the one knock on FiOS a friend of mine has. I'll pass long this info.
