Do you have Fios TV?
Is the connection into your Verizon Router COAX (cable wire) or Ethernet?

The issue with doing a direct replacement of the VZ router is any replacement router must have a coax connection. I'm not sure what other brand of wireless N routers on the market today have a COAX connection for the WAN connection.
You may want to consider getting a wireless N router or Access Point and keep the VZ provided router and disable the Wireless on the VZ router.
