trouble with logging into my router

Newbie

I'm running a MI424-WR rev f router and when I log into 192.168.1.1, I can enter the admin login name, but I cannot enter the password. For every letter I type, at least two characters appear. I used to be able to copy and past the password into the form, but now that doesn't work, either (it adds another character).

This happens with every browser I have (chrome, safari, firefox, and camino). Anyone else seen this?

thanks!

You can ignore the number of characters displayed.  This is a security feature that is suppose to confuse any one watching over your shoulder as to how long your password is.

Password should default to matching the serial number displayed on your router.  The router when reset may use "password" as the password and installers use to change it to "password1"
