Now it tests with a slow upload speed even using the official Verizon speed test to the closest server.  Again, download speed is fine, but upload speed is showing only about 7 when it should be at least 25.

Calling Verizon, they just want to send a third tech out, after the last one changed all of my equipment.  They won't accept that there is an issue somewhere else in their network.  Very frustrating, and I need my upload speed back.  Yesterday I uploaded a file and acheived only between 130K and 1 Meg speeds.

Looks good until you hit Europe.  Pings also don't tell you all you want.  You do know that the further away the higher the ping.  Even ideally can't exceed the speed of light.

Grace Hopper used to hand out Nanoseconds, a section of wire about ar a foot long  that takes a nanosecond to pass through.  So a perfect signal no hops and ignoring processing time and other overhead. will take about 27 ms to go 5000 miles.  We don't live in a perfect world and there are lots of hops.  For most of us it take 7ms to just reach are own isp gateway.

Still testing slow upload speed (less than 15 meg) using the official Verizon speed test to my closest server, plus below 2 megs testing to distant Verizon servers.

Two more techs came out in the last two days.  Both of them said there was nothing they could do without doing any testing beyond having me run the speed test showing them it was slow. The last one said I should upgrade to 75/35.  I said I just want to get the performance I just upgraded to.

I'm having the same exact issue (NoVA area).  It's probably been this way for months but I haven't really checked my speed until recently.

I'm on the 75/35 and speedtests show 85Mbps download and like <3Mbps upload.

I'm noticing lately that lots of things are just timing out when I try to upload.

1st Chat Support rep made me go through all the standard troubleshooting stuff and then said it's a bad Actiontec router.

They sent me out a Rev. I which replaced my Rev. F I believe it was; disconnect my old one, leave it that way for 1 hour as instructed, plug in the new one.  No improvement.

2nd Chat Support rep makes me go through all the same standard stuff again.  They go talk to the Network Engineer who claims I have too many devices on the network (they probably think I'm trying to test things while everyone's uploading like crazy when no one does).  I end up disconnecting all devices from the network except my PC and the speedtest shows exactly the same result (ie. <3Mbps upload).  They tell me the Network Engineer said my provisioning is correct.

They claim it's a bad Actiontec router once again and are shipping me another.

I get the feeling it's gonna have the same result at which point they'll start sending technicians out to check the ONT and such.

Upload speed just tested ok (35 Meg), but distant Verizon servers within the US are still at 1/10th the speed (less than 3 Meg).

So I ran another traceroute.  This time to another US file sharing service.  When I acutally uploaded files using this service, the upload speed was between 150 kbs and 1 meg.

traceroute to www.digitalbucket.net (75.101.162.55), 64 hops max, 72 byte packets

3 more technicians have been out to my house since my last post, and one of them finally switched my ONT to router connection to ethernet.  That had been temporarily tried before, but decided to try again with permanent wiring.

It seemed to help a bit, since it was almost a week before slowdowns started again.  Now it seems as if the slowdowns come mostly at night,  around 10 PM.   I wouldn't think that internet traffic in my neighborhood would be the busiest at that particular time of day though.

Perhaps something else changed somewhere down the line, as it is better, but still not as good as it was before I "upgraded" my internet speed.

I have the same issue - sporadically.

Am on a 75/57 service.  Recived a new Actiontec rev I to replace a defective Westell routre.  When I test the speeeds I found I was getting 38/4    I thought it was possibly because I was testing from a machine behind a double nat'd router however when I test from a machine directly connected to the actiontec it was only marginally better at 38/6.  As the slow upload doesn't really affect me that much I ignored itfor a few weeks.

Last Sunday (3/30)  went to see if the same issues were there.  All appeared correct now getting 83/39.  Tried again today am am now getting 83/12.

Am in the Boston area and get the same result consistently testing with local servers or servers in NY or CHI so have to assume the issue is actually in my home network or between the VZ router and it's connection to the local VZ network.  As I haven't changed my local network I have to believe the problem lies with the local VZ network connection.

Hi buzzy1125,

Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you. Please go to your profile page for the forum and look at the top of the middle column where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.

Under "My Support Cases" you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. This should be checked on a frequent basis, as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions. To ensure you know when they have responded to you, at the top of your support case there is a drop down menu for support case options. Open that and choose "subscribe".
