download hardcapped at under 2MB/s

i have the same issue as this thread - http://forums.verizon.com/t5/FiOS-Internet/FIOS-35-35-account-suddenly-slows-down-to-downloads-0-5-2...

but i guess nobody saw my post, no reason to retype everything, same situation is going on.

i want a tech to come out and test it himself just like OP in that thread finally got.

phone reps are pointless to talk to anymore for this issue, they dont even understand basic networking lingo when i try to explain exact messages i see in the router logs.

Post a copy of your trace route (tracert) to the location you are accessing when you say things are slowing down.

I have had FiOS since 2005 and have had nothing but 99.9% of advertised speeds. They cap nothing. Now you could be hitting a bad router, and then that would need to be addressed.

Or if your machine is infected and spewing out unwanted traffic, there could be some issues where it may be limited because of locking up something on their network. If that is the case, you may wish to see the information below.

Please post a copy of your tracert, when the slow down issue occurs. Perhaps that will help us diagnose the problem.

You may wish to see section 10.4 on this page.

Also run a test on a hardwired machine at http://speedtest.verizon.net and after your done click analysis at the bottom of the results page, and paste those results here.

there appears to be issues with the 130.81.199.2x tampa routers which have unresovled host names from various networking sites and would explain the times i get complete no responce from other sites when running reverse tracerts to me which happen to go thru one of those tampa routers, its always the 2nd to last hop between a previous tampa router and my computer and this is even when i bypass my router

so far 130.81.199.28 and 130.81.199.26 ive found both have this issue

heres a tracert to stanford university that involved one of those routers showing obvious issues

{edited for privacy}

doesnt host name issues cause problems when trying to stream video or anything of the such?

is so, that would explain my issues, it would also explain why when i run tests on http://pingtest.net/

i get very high Jitter from 3 of the 4 servers in florida which probably run through those routers, the only one that shows steady connection(2) is the Orlando server which is 2ms jitter, which is what every test i ran used to be before these issues the last few weeks.

the same goes for http://speedtest.net/

some servers show 40/40 speeds everytime, the others i get those hardcaps or very dramatic dips in speed after the initial burst.

im tired of running tests on my end.

the issue is clearly with verizon up the stream, they just need to finish fixing it or atleast aknolwedge theres an issue and that they're working on it, if its still going to take a while to fix.

cause ive seen some improvement over the last week, ive been made host during online gaming alot more often and stream mlb.tv and youtube some what better but its not 100% as it was prior to first week in April.

Even if Tampa's router on the backbone was simply de-prioritizing packets, I don't expect it over such a short distance to be pinging 100ms back to the PC on a consistent basis. The traces look fine afterwards, as the hop between Tampa and Miami looks about right for Verizon's routing over 300 miles of Fiber (could be lower but is not a problem).

I wouldn't doubt that the problem is perhaps with a Tampa router if that's the case. It's all speculation at this point without having more information on what is happening behind the scenes, but I believe Florida has been one of those oddball states that just has issues prop up from time to time partially because they route almost everything through to Atlanta.

I HAVE seen many other tracerts that were not edited for privacy. Why not just remove the originating IP? How are we supposed to help anyone if we can't see the problem?Smiley FrustratedSmiley Mad

Why do we bother?
