Have you tried manually rebooting your router?
You must log into your router as an admin and enter the advanced section. In the advanced section select reboot router.
Does this improve performance or ping time?
Perhaps your router has too many requests from the internal LAN. If you can, only have one computer connected and then determine performance. You can also try turning off wireless access for this test.

I had it set to do a automatic reboot every week at 6 am, but that still didnt help much. I have followed the guide i linked and so far everything is working. I will see how things go after a few days to a week and update this as needed. But it seems to have fixed my issue.
