I don't know about the DSL routers, but the Fios router
- were set to router password (not passphrase) on the router
- or set to serial number of the router
- or set by installer to "password1"
- ordefaulted to "password"
- after reset of the router either was not set and had to be created on first entry or the above list.

Sorry for the delay. Forums are not real time unfortunately.
The default passwords for the DSL modems can be one fo the following. Arranged by Username/Password Respectively
admin/password
admin/admin
The modem may also ask you to change the password when you visit http://192.168.1.1/ while connected to them.
If the above passwords do not work, then check the modem for a sticker on the side, which has an Administrator password.
