Help with my new laptop's wireless connection

I just got a new used laptop.

I have it connected to my Verizon FiOS modem by ethernet currently, it works perfectly.

When trying to connect my wireless connection, it says " Status: Connected" and "Signal strength: Excellent"

but the problem is I cannot use the internet.

It doesn't connect and I do not know why.

I tried the repair button but it did not help.

There are 2 desktop computers connected to the same modem by ethernet cord

and another laptop that works wireless.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Thanks in advance.

You can try using Vz In Home Agent (It can be downloaded from www.verizon.com/connect).

Under Internet -->Network Setup section, you can use "Automatically setup Wireless" option. If that doesn't fix your problem, you can also try "Fix my FiOS Internet Connection" option under "Quick Fixes" section.

I downloaded that & tried it but an error poped up about half way through it.

At 'Diagnosing Wired Adapter'

- 'Autolt Error' pops up on the screen.

In the pop up it says "Line -1: Error: Variable used without being declared."

Then it ends there and my problem doesn't change.

What Operating System is on the Laptop ?

Have you tried to Update the Drivers for the Wireless Card ?

If running a Windows OS you can try to delete the wireless card in device manager and then reboot the laptop.  When it comes back up it should seew new hardware and add it back.

Good Evening,

If you got a new Laptop I going to assume it a Vista OS

1)first Are you able to surf the Net via a hardwire connection like the other 2 computers

2)If you can surf access the Router

3) Open up Internet Explorer or firefox

4) Delete what ever you find in the Address bar and Enter 192.168.1.1

5)User:admin and Password:password1

6)click on the Wireles button

7)here you will find the your needed info  SSid and WEP Key

8)click on the icon that looks like 2 little computers located on the bottom right hand coner

9)Pick on Network and sharing Center

10)click on manage wireless connection

11)Click on Add

12)add a network within the range of the computer

13) verify that you see multiple wireless network in the box.. if you don't see any you might have the wireless turned off ref to manual

14)If you do see the list of wireless network pick on SSID you found on the Verizon router

15)it will now prompt you to enter the Wep Key  put you CAPS on and Wep key is Hexa Decimal it can only 1-0 A-F  There are not 'O" they are all Zeros.

16) should prompt you save profile once connection is extablished

17)Vista might then want you to flag what kind of connection home or work etc.

Hope this helps..
