VOICE MAIL BEEP BEEP

My voice mail light is on ---and I have no messages.  When I go to make a call--I have to listen to the beep-beep as though there is a voice mail....and there ARE none!

Called Verizon--and he said I had to follow the prompts to EXIT.....but, I don't GET a prompt to "exit the system".  Does anyone know how to get the beep beep off the phone?
